Yale University, Paris-Panthéon-Assas University and ESSEC Business School have agreed on the initiative of a common summer program in Law and Economics. At the end of the program, a "Certificate in Private Law and Economics in the United States of America and in France (Contracts, Arbitration and Dispute Resolution)", jointly signed by the academic directors of Yale, Paris-Panthéon-Assas University and ESSEC, is delivered to students.

The Yale-Assas University - ESSEC Summer School is a 5 week program which will be held :

from June 27 to July 28 2022

Classes Monday to Thursday (typically from 9 am to 1 pm).
Social and cultural events organized every Friday (visit of museums or institutions).
The program is composed of 80 hours of courses of Law and Economics, all held in English.

Location: Paris-Panthéon-Assas University, 92 rue d'Assas, 75006 Paris (FRANCE).

Eligibility

In the interest of maintaining the program's high standards, the number of participants will be limited to 30 (10 from each partner school).

Application criteria

Students from Paris-Panthéon-Assas université:

  • must have completed a Bachelor's degree or L3 (preferably in Economics, Law or Finance) by the start of the Summer School. Preference will be given to students in their 4th/5th year of studies (M1/M2) and PhD students.

Students from other universities:

  • must have completed a Bachelor's degree or L3 (preferably in Economics, Law or Finance) by the start of the Summer School. Preference will be given to students in their 5th year of studies (M2) and PhD students.

A very good command of written and spoken English is also a prerequisite.

The application procedure for the June-July 2022 session will be online.

The documents you will need to upload are :

  • A resume in English
  • A cover letter in English
  • Transcripts of records (from the last three years of study)
  • Copy of your student card

Application period: from 1 April 2022 to 16 May 2022 *Application deadline extended until 27 May, 12pm*

Deadline for payment of registration fees: mid-June 2022.

  • Topics will include: The Economics of the Burden and Standards of Proof; Economics of contracts enforcement; Harmonization of Legal Systems; Dispute Resolution Mechanism in International Business Contract

Delivery of the Certificate at the end of the summer school:

The final grade of the certificate obtained by the candidates will be calculated as follows:

  • 50% exams
  • 30% problem sets
  • 20% student participation.

Attendance of all lectures is mandatory to obtain the Certificate.
